As one of the fastest growing watersports in the world, stand up paddleboarding has taken the world by storm. As the popularity grows, stand up paddleboarders of all levels from everywhere are looking for new places to explore with their new found toys. Contrary to popular belief, the UK has some of the most breathtaking locations for you to take a paddle, and here is our top 5!

1. Poole Harbour, Dorset.

An absolute favourite with us boys at S2AS. Poole Harbour is a hidden gem in the Stand up paddleboarding world, and on the right summer’s day you really could be anywhere! Poole harbour is an ideal spot for stand up paddleboarders of any level, and it’s easy entry points dotted around the peninsula and shallow water make it perfect for the beginner paddler. The surrounding islands such as Brownsea, Furzey and Green, make it fantastic for a long distance paddle for the more experienced paddler.

2. Watergate Bay, Cornwall

Watergate Bay is well known in the UK surfing scene as one of the best places to learn to surf. The large bay, well protected from the wind by large cliffs often produces smaller swells compared to other breaks in the local area, making it a perfect place for a stand up paddleboarder to catch their first few waves on a SUP. However waves aren’t all Cornwall has to offer, it’s cosy country pubs and unspoiled landscapes make it a perfect choice for anyone looking to take a few days away.

The name pretty much gives this one away. The immense quantity of fresh water lakes, perfect peaks and simply stunning views makes this an awesome destination for a paddler of any level.
